De la Cal Barriera, is know to be one of the most famous families in Spain for ceramic makes. For many generations this family has been making the best usable ceramic in Spain.
A few years ago the family divided in two, one part is formed by Ana Belen and Miguel Angel, which is a very recognized painter in Ceramic, especially in tiles. The other part is from by Belen. They basically make the same thing, but slowly with the time each part of the family is developing their own personally and style.
I said that is ceramic is an excellent ceramic for using, it has NO lead, and they are cooked at 1150 degrees and the enamelling is special for food, which makes them usable in washing machines and microwaves. People that have bough ceramic in Spain, often have had the disagreeable experience that it chips and the paint falls of on the edges. THIS, will not happen to this ceramic. I insist the quality is really superb.
Another important thing here is the variety they have in incredible, on this web page you are only seen a very small part of the pieces they make, plus any of these pieces can be made in any of the colures you see, or even the tonality you whish. Remember every single piece is hand painted, so the possibilities are unlimited.
These
artists are specialized in makes dinner serves, they are total personalized
to the customer, and here you have two options.
1.- Chose one design and everything be the same.
2.- Chose certain style and colours and have the artiste make you the
serves with a little difference en each piece, I can assure you this is
more beautiful and really really looks fabulous, I promise, after 23 years,
never we have had a client that was not very happy.
You will observe some plates with animals; these are known as "Monteria Style" ceramic. This is the typical ceramic from country side, specially hunting areas. They come with all the possible animal you could hunt.
If you want usable and durable ceramic, this is certainly my recommendation.
